In a peculiar, alien planet, emotions are considered an impurity.   There is nothing more corruptive towards logic than the erraticness of emotional fluctuation. Hence, upon launching the “Perfect Lifeform Creation” protocol, everyone is expected to be rid of irrationality caused by the instability of the heart.   What is the Perfect Lifeform Creation, anyway?   To put it simply: everyone must be converted into cyborgs.   The organic body has already been deemed obsolete as the future progressed into hazardous territory and environments, so it was only ideal that everyone would soon acquire artificial enhancements to survive.
   As expected, many citizens resisted the idea of getting rid of emotions and their own organic bodies. What they did not understand was that this protocol was an absolute order and not something the people had a choice in.
   It began with a few successful participants who were willing to be converted. Once the results had shown a huge upgrade in the quality of one’s living, more and more people were convinced to undergo the transformation themselves.
   It was not long until the entire population had now been converted into cyborgs. Reproduction was no trouble as the inhabitants of this planet had found a way to artificially reproduce offspring by keeping them within labs, ready for cybernetic infusion, and having them be ‘born’ within the body of a cyborg after certain procedures.
   These procedures have their benefits as well. No one would have to undergo the processes of childhood where it would usually take years to nurture an individual to have the basic skills needed to thrive in the world. Newborns are simply programmed with the knowledge they need to be a functioning member of society.   This was all ideal. This was perfect.   But one day, the perfection created by the hands of this planet will soon be met with adversity.“Warning: A rogue cyborg is on the run. Apprehend on sight, and purification must be carried out immediately.”   A cold, monotonous voice echoed through the Life Manufacturing facility of a certain laboratory drifting in space, contracted to carry out the Perfect Lifeform Creation Protocol. The clanking of metallic feet against the ground thundered through the halls of the ship, determined to catch the deviant that had breached the standards for lifeform production.“...”   From the shadows, the fugitive in question lies in wait, their heart beating in fear.   Fear… an emotion.   Emotions are illegal on this planet!   That’s what the fugitive knows. Rather, that is what they’re programmed to know.   They know that impurities like these must be purged, but… but…!“I’m scared… I’m so scared!”   Even if they know they should submit themselves as per the protocol ingrained into their minds, their heart tells them NOT to!
   Their heart is telling them to run, to escape, to be free from this prison!“Don’t be scared, Chika. I’m here to guide you!”   A kind voice spoke inside the circuitry of the scared cyborg. This was Dennis, a companion Chika picked up upon their escape… or rather, Dennis found Chika and broke them out of there.“B-But Dennis… they’re all out after us! I’m scared that they’ll take me apart painfully so they can purify me!”“And we won’t let that happen. Trust me, okay?”“...Okay.”   Within the fugitive’s heart came a new emotion: Hope.   Hope that this nightmare would end, hope that the unknown voice in their mind would lead them to safety.   Taking a deep breath, Chika sprinted out of hiding and ran down the hall.“Take a left! That’s where their escape pods are being held!”“A-Alright!”   Chika turned left. True enough, there were signages that confirmed their direction towards their means of escape out of this ship. They kept running until they could open the door.“FUGITIVE SPOTTED! FUGITIVE SPOTTED!”   Chika looked behind, and a patrol cyborg found them. The alarms blared in full, and the fugitive’s presence was broadcast throughout the entire neural network of the roaming cyborgs.“Oh no! We’ve been spotted!”   The patrol cyborg that caught Chika sprinted and apprehended them, grabbing them by the arm!“Ow! Hey, let go!”   The robot’s grip on Chika began to throb.“You will submit under protocol. Please wait patiently until the purifier units arrive.”“Hell no! I’m not waiting around for some robot to tear me apart!”   Chika struggled, their internal thinking starting to heat up.“I… said… LET. ME. GO!”   With a growl, Chika balled their fist up and socked the patrol robot clean on the jaw. They could feel something flare up inside them: a new emotion… called Anger.“Haaah… hah…”“Wow, nice shot, Chika!”“I… what just happened to me? I felt as if I was on fire…”“I’ll explain another time. For now…”   A whirring sound could be heard, and the door to the escape pods opened.“Woah! How did you—?”“Get inside, now!”   Chika wasted no time and headed for the room. Behind them, the door shut violently, sparks flying everywhere like it had just short-circuited.“Hop onto any of the Escape Pods, quick!”   They did as they were told and got into a comfortable-looking pod. Chika strapped in and faced the pod controls. Thanks to their pre-programmed knowledge, they know how to operate the controls, but… Where would they even go?“D-Dennis? A little help here? Where do I go from here?”“Try to find a planet that’s habitable for us both!”“Um, okay, let me see…”   Chika ran a rapid analysis of Dennis’s anatomy and ran the information through a database of where their friend’s anatomy can survive.“Hmm…”   Dennis looks similar to a creature known as ‘frogs’ on the planet ‘Earth’.“Okay! We’re bound for this planet called Earth! Get ready!”“Earth?!”   Before Dennis could protest, the eager cyborg immediately routed the coordinates directed toward Earth.“Strap in, Dennis! We’re about to hit hyperspace!”“I don’t feel good about this…!”   The poor frog-like creature could only barely buckle themselves in as Chika hit the thrusters, launching the escape pod from the laboratory ship’s pod bay.“WARNING! ESCAPE POD 10 HAS BEEN USED! WARNING! ESCAPE POD 10 HAS BEEN USED!”   The loud blaring of the broadcast was spread throughout the entire ship, but it was too late. Chika and Dennis were already hurtling at blazing speeds into Earth’s gravitational field.“Hold on tiiiiight!”   Chika and Dennis were clinging to the edge of their seats, screaming out of mixed emotions as they soon hurtled into the inner atmospheres of Earth. From the black, star-filled vacuum of space, the sky soon turned blue and bright. Beneath them, a beautiful shade of aqua waters and white sand was there to greet their landing.“WE HAVE TO EJECT! EJECT NOW, CHIKA!”   As per Dennis’s instruction, Chika hit the eject button. A loud sproing could be heard from the top of the Escape Pod, launching the two in the air.“AAAAAAHHHHH!”   Thud!   The duo landed on the soft sand rather harshly.“Ow…”   Unfortunately for Chika, they dove headfirst and were partially buried in the sand up to their shins. They dug themselves out of their sandy predicament and dusted out their cyborg body.“We made it… This is your home, Dennis!”“Um, Chika? Not to spoil the party, but um… Earth isn’t my home.”“Eh? B-But you look like one of Earth’s Creatures!”“That’s true, but… ah, forget it. Earth is a pleasant and habitable place anyway. We’ll be safe here.”   The pair looked at the beautiful tropics that they landed on.   At the back of Chika’s mind, perhaps they could start a new life here…   A flourishing feeling surged through Chika’s internal circuitry: a new emotion.   The emotion called… Happiness.
